Behaviour modification and training

Dogs can develop behavioural problems for a number of reasons, which in turn will cause worry for their owners. Problems such as newly developed fears, unwanted jumping up, and aggression are not uncommon. Mike can provide help when these situations arise offering solutions to give you and your dog a better relationship.

A one to one consultation lasts approximately two hours. Mike will take as many details of your dog as you can provide to assist in exploring the behaviour problems that are being displayed and reach a practical solution. Follow-up sessions can be arranged if necessary, and Mike provides free telephone and email support for two months following consultations.

Mike holds a Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Canine Behaviour and a Level 5 Diploma in Canine Behaviour and Training. he is a professional member of the Dog Welfare Alliance and is a Member of the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers.

What results should I expect?

Do I need to punish my dog?

Most certainly not. If you train  or undertake behaviour modification with me it is on a Force Free basis. 

Can you fix all my dog's behavioural problems?

Sometimes not every single issue a dog has can be fixed. In these cases Mike will help you to devise a plan that can manage the issue.

Is the process going to take a lot of time?

Some issues are quicker to solve than others. I will give you the tools you need to get your dog where you want it to be. Remember – there are no quick fixes.

What is the difference between a behaviourist and a trainer?

A behaviourist will have an in depth knowledge of dogs through the evolutionary process to where they are today and understand how the canine brain works. If you are seeking a behaviourist always seek someone with  a minimum Level 5 qualification

Can you help with cases of aggression?

Mike spends most of his time dealing with these types of cases. There are many reasons for what people call ‘aggression’. Mike will help you get to the root of the problem.
