Case study

ACORN

ISSUE

Acorn was a resident at Pawprints Dog Rescue. After being rehomed, she was returned and was very fearful of certain people.

ASSESSMENT

The initial thought before Mike was asked to assist was that Acorn had a fear of men, however, this wasn't the case. She had a fear of certain people, regardless of their gender.

PLAN

The plan was to build up positive associations when meeting new people. Respecting Acorn's boundaries, and watching her body language for clues she was uncomfortable. She's now been in her forever home almost a year.

"Mike had the volunteers in tears watching him work with Acorn. She'd been with us such a long time and it was heart-warming watching her building trust."
